A Short Biographical Description
Dr. Schullo ( shauna@schullo.com) holds a position at the University of Alaska Fairbanks as Associate Director of the Center for Distance Education and Independent Learning. In addition she teaches courses as an adjunct faculty member for the Instructional Technology program in the College of Education at her alma mater USF. Her research interest are varied, but mainly revolve around distance education and the use of technology in teaching. Before her current position, Shauna was he Assistant Director for Instructional Technology at the Center for 21st Century Teaching Excellence at University of South Florida. Prior to that she was the Director of VITAL Services in the Florida Center for Instructional Technology (FCIT) at the University of South Florida. Shauna has been at the University of Alaska since June of 2006 and a member of the USF academic community since 1988. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from the Chemistry Department in the College of Natural Sciences (which is now part of the College of Arts and Science) in May of 1990. After that she continued her education in the field of Engineering, obtaining her Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering in December of 1995. Shauna recently graduated with her PhD in Instructional Technology at USF where she continues to teach two graduate level courses on Distance Learning from Alaska. Shauna began her computing career in Engineering Computing and continued when she transferred to Academic Computing. She then advanced to the positions mentioned above. Her varied experience has allowed her to become an expert in many of the technology tools we use everyday such as Microsoft Office products, telecommunications and presentation media. She is versed in web-based tools such as HTML, Java Script, Cold Fusion, many Streaming media programs, WebCT and Blackboard. Shauna is also proficient in many applications such as Authorware, multimedia packages, networking software, and graphics programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Premiere. Shauna has worked in both private industry and academia. This helps her to understand the application of online technology to learning from multiple perspectives. Due to her diverse experiences, Shauna enjoys both classroom teaching and training in online and Web-related environments. She loves her profession and encourages all faculty, academic support staff and students to join in her enthusiasm for learning. |
